Perio3 is dedicated to supplying the research community with high quality recombinant proteins. The Perio3 team has great experience in production and purification of both human and bacterial proteins in different expression systems. Our research in field of periodontitis and inflammation diseases with use of our recombinant proteins resulted in publication of many highly rated scientific articles.
Prof. Jan Potempa – born in 1955 in Tarnow. A Biochemist and microbiologist. Leads research on bacteria causing periodontal diseases. Since 2005, he has been the head of the Institute of Microbiology of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology Faculty at Jagiellonian University. Additionally, since 2009, he has been a professor at the Department of Oral Health and Rehabilitation at the University of Louisville Dental School (USA).
He received his Master’s degree in 1979 at the Jagiellonian University. It is also at this university that he received his PhD (1982) and postdoctoral (1993) degrees, i.e. habilitation. A professor since 1998.
He headed and continues to lead teams realizing research grants awarded by the American National Institute of Health (NIH), the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education as well as the European Union. He has, during his career, supervised 18 PhD candidates. Author of 278 publications and holder of 11 patents.
Piotr Mydel MD PhD, has spent his scientific career contributing mostly in the field of inflammation and autoimmune diseases. Currently, he holds an associate professor positions at the at the new Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland and at the University of Bergen in Norway. In both places Piotr Mydel established and is constantly developing the research groups working in the field of translational medicine perfectly complimenting IRA long-term strategy. With a multidisciplinary approach (biochemistry, immunology, biomarkers), broad international collaborations with groups possessing complementary expertise to investigate inflammation and autoimmunity and proven record of collaboration with industry partners (development of small molecular inhibitors, development of drug targets based on ‘Omics’ datasets) Piotr Mydel is clearly capable to oversee the IRA operation. In the last 7 years Piotr Mydel promoted 3 PhD students and is currently supervising 4 PhD students and 3 postdoctoral fellows.
